Newsletter May 2023

Dear member,

We are delighted to present to you our very first newsletter, packed with exciting news and updates from our club. It has been a thrilling semester so far, and we are determined to end it on a high note with a series of amazing events.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured a recent sponsorship from Accentus, which has allowed us to purchase new boards and clocks, enabling us to host up to 50 participants during our casual chess evenings. Speaking of which, don’t miss out on the last two casual chess evenings of the semester, set to take place on the 9th and 23rd of May.

We are also thrilled to announce that our club now has a brand new chess.com page. We invite you to join and stay updated on the online events we have in store: https://www.chess.com/club/skethz-eth-chess-club

Mark your calendar! On the 20th of May takes place the first edition of the ETH Chess Championship. The largest ETH chess tournament to date-with up to 80 expected participants-will ultimately crown the undisputed ETH Chess King and ETH Chess Queen. You will have the chance to showcase your skills during 9 rounds with the usual 5+3 time. More details here.

We also invite you to the general assembly of our club, set to take place on the 25th of May. Among the topics discussed are: review of the past year, review of the treasury, election of the new committee, and vote of the new budget. If you are motivated to help us organizing amazing events next year, it’s your time 🙂

Don’t forget to spread the word to your friends about our club. We can’t wait to see you at our upcoming events!

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,

SKETH’s committee
